I have been a Dave Brubeck fan since the first time I heard Take Five, a famous jazz tune composed in 5/4 time by the great Paul Desmond and recorded by the Dave Brubeck Quartet in 1959. Dave Brubeck performed and recorded great, innovative jazz, with his quartet and later with his two sons for jazz fans the world over. We had the distinct pleasure of seeing Brubeck and his Quartet at the famous Ruth Eckerd Hall in Clearwater, Florida when we lived in Saint Petersburg. In his late eighties, he wowed his audience with his interpretation of jazz classics and newer works as well. A communicator of a genre of music that is uniquely American still flourishing because of talented artists like Brubeck.
