Today's COUNTDOWN tune is a soulful celebration of the greatest Christian song ever written. I include this rearrangement of this powerful work every year of the COUNTDOWN. George Frideric Handel wrote the original Hallelujah Chorus in 1741 as part of the great work Messiah. It has been said that Handel, who wrote the entire 260 page work in twenty four days, told his assistant upon finishing the Hallelujah Chorus - "I did think I did see all Heaven before me, and the great God Himself seated on His throne, with his company of Angels". It has become the most performed work in Christian Music. And today's rearrangement by the great writers, arrangers and producers Mervyn Warren, Michael O. Jackson and Mark Kibble was recorded in 1992 by a large choir of talented superstar singers, known and unknown. You'll also see the great Quincy Jones directing this live recording of this powerful work over 250 years old.
So enjoy the energy and the singing of NO. 8 ON THE CHRISTMAS COUNTDOWN - HANDEL'S MESSIAH: A SOULFUL CELEBRATION - THE HALLELUJAH CHORUS.
