Christmas Is About About Life and Love Too
Today's Countdown tune is not, specifically, a Christmas song. But, when I heard it for the first time, it just spoke to me about those universal feelings of life and love that make Christmas meaningful in our lives. Plus it's my countdown - so there. My kids introduced me to Mumford & Sons sometime back and I have become a monster fan. With bands like Mumford & Sons, the "NOBODY MAKES ANY DECENT MUSIC ANYMORE" crowd can rest easy knowing there is a cadre of great artists filling the need for meaningful and real music. This Celtic, folk influenced English rock band brings unusual instrumentation, great lyrics and heartfelt, soulful vocals and harmony to a genre that seems to be obsessed with the latest boxed set from Pete Seeger, The Association or some other folk/blues/pop/rock icon from "their" decade.
Today's tune deserves at least several listens to let the lyrics and the music sink in. And the imagery of the video perfectly connects your eyes, ears and heart - Bonus Track No. 2 on The 2012 XMAS Countdown - Winter Winds by Mumford & Sons.
